Custom Home Design Process

Design and Development

Conceptualizing Your Home: We begin with a detailed programming exercise for each space, assessing its use, desired finishes, and role within the home.

Site Analysis: We evaluate natural elements, such as sunlight, breezes and key site features like oak trees or waterfronts to inform design.

Hand Sketches and CAD Drawings: We use bubble diagrams and relationship diagrams to organize spaces and turn them into precise, scaled drawings.

Construction Documents

We finalize your budget and prepare detailed drawings for permits and pricing.

Bidding and Negotiation

We work with multiple builders, handling negotiations and ensuring all bids are comprehensive. Then, we present the best options and manage any value engineering as needed.

Construction

We oversee construction with scheduled site visits, acting as your advocate to make sure everything goes according to plan. Our involvement is typically hands-on to ensure seamless execution.

Our Team

Creating remarkable spaces begins with building strong relationships. As a boutique architectural firm in Baton Rouge, our small team allows for a truly personal process. It’s our privilege to get to know you and your family as we design your home with precision and care.

We count it a success when we hear, “You’re my architect!” because it means we’ve made your space a true extension of who you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your company special or unique?

Our design process is the secret to exceeding our clients’ expectations in a variety of project types, sizes, and styles. We collect every detail about a family’s needs and marry that information with architectural elements that are important to them in creating a one-of-a-kind home or renovation project.

What are some of the services you offer?

Programming each space to understand who our clients are and how they live; site analysis to understand how the sun, wind, and land influence the design; developing multiple functional floor plan options to fit their budget; and creating color-coded drawing views of exterior and interior spaces to put our clients in those rooms before they are even built.

What is your specialty or passion when it comes to work?

We love solving challenging design problems through research and using our experience to show clients solutions they never would have dreamed of. It’s the Aha! moment when the light bulb turns on that makes it all worthwhile.

What challenges have you faced due to COVID-19 and what have you learned from them?

Replacing design meetings with remote discussions through a TV monitor. Our best work comes from face-to-face exchanges of thoughts and ideas. Quick sketches ensue with reactions and solutions are developed on the fly. We became more proficient over time, but we prefer the interaction with our clients designing together and visiting our projects in person.

Are there any upcoming plans or dream projects you would like to share?

We have a special new residence under construction on Beaumont Lane that is on one of the most beautiful home sites in Baton Rouge. Our client challenged us to design a modern craftsman-style home on a sloping lot completely surrounded by live oak trees—it is unlike anything we have ever done!
