The idea of this project was born out of the necessity of adding a mother-in-law suite and a movie room for the family. The existing garage was enclosed to house these spaces and a new structure added on a sloping side yard that provides a two car garage that fronts the street with a cabana that faces the backyard and a new pool area.

The cabana features a unique octagon shaped cooking area, clad in cypress with vaulted ceilings that is positioned off of a corner giving the chef a full view of the pool and backyard. A continuous concrete counter top with plenty of pull up seating is protected by a continuous handrail adding to the uniqueness and allure of this space.

The main sitting area is oriented around a fireplace that is framed by large wood beams and brick pilasters at the corners which maximizes the views outward and inward. The pool is situated at the base of the sloping site with steps that cascade down from the cabana leading to it.
