The owners’ existing house needed to have the kitchen & adjacent living spaces updated for their current needs.

This is accomplished by expanding the existing breakfast area into a comfortable keeping room with views & access to a new outdoor living/dining space and cooking area. The breakfast area is moved to a corner that has two sides of window walls that provide a wonderful view into a restored courtyard space and to the newly landscaped backyard.

The kitchen and its island open up to the keeping room and breakfast area with a simple, elegant design that makes for an inviting atmosphere.

The exterior spaces are handled as exterior rooms that carry as much importance as the interior ones. An existing courtyard that is surrounded by the house is transformed with new plants and a wall fountain into an inviting space that allows you in to experience it.

This renovation allows the owners to be comfortable together or with small and large gatherings throughout the year. As they stated, “It seems like it’s always been a part of the house now!”
