The owners wanted a comfortable family room off of an enlarge, updated kitchen where they could enjoy family activities and entertain friends. The design accomplishes this by adding these new spaces onto the present kitchen/breakfast space, which is converted to an enlarged breakfast area. A seamless transition is created between the existing and new addition by aligning interior flow patterns and using materials such as old brick and antique cypress which add warmth and give the spaces a sense of place. A south-facing garden area provides an attractive way for visitors to enter into the family room.
