The lot for this house has two defining features: a large live oak on the front right corner and a hedge of bamboo along a portion of the right side property line. The floor plans and exterior elevations of this two-story New Orleans style home are designed to work in harmony with these two natural landscape elements.

The living spaces of the first floor are oriented to the front and side where the bamboo forms a natural edge to the side courtyard. The bedrooms of the second floor are positioned to have access to a second-floor porch allowing views down into the side courtyard. The front corner of this same porch is completed with an octagon shaped design that allows panoramic views from a “tree house” like porch within the oak tree.
