The owners desired a two-story, classic, plantation-style home in an older, family friendly neighborhood in Baton Rouge. With a project team approach that included the builder, Scott Bardwell, and interior designer, Michelle Livings, the house design evolved from initial concept sketches to a well crafted, finished home that the Beall family can live in and continue to grow into. A warm material palette is carried into the house with stained natural wood throughout the living spaces and salvaged brick accents at archways between spaces and at the fireplace. The kitchen, dining, and family room spaces flow together with wood floors and beams used as unifying elements. Views and access to porches from inside the house are prolific for a family that enjoys the outdoor rooms as much as the interior ones. The upstairs, with its three bedrooms and movie room, wraps around a kids’ game room that opens to a large balcony that is shuttered at each end to manage the sun and give this an outdoor room feel as well. Making memories will be easy for this close-knit family in a home that will continue to draw immediate and extended family together for years to come.
